Chad's VX2100 Photos
I have the Greg Winter audio modification for my camera and now it sounds completely noiseless.
Check out the details: http://www.gregjwinter.com/modification2.htm

Here are the before / after samples:

Pre-Mod Noise Sample

Post-Mod Noise Sample

These are as they come off the camera. You'll hear the difference more if you increase the gain on the files, or just turn your speakers up loud.

Being able to make movies with your gear...

Priceless.
MixPre signal enters camera through the RCA jacks, and totally bypasses the noisy Sony preamp circutry.

The 1/8" cable going into the headphone jack is going into the "Tape Return" of the MixPre. This way I can monitor the camera and still keep my headphones plugged into the MixPre.
MixPre was modified by Greg Winter to attach between the camera and the tripod. He added an aluminum plate to the bottom of the MixPre for added strength.

You can remove the MixPre from the camera, but you have to take off one of the side plates (7 screws) and use an alan wrench to remove unit from camera.

$150.00 for this mod.

It's worth it. Otherwise you will have a dangling MixPre.
