Tips On How To Get A Logo That Tells More About Your Business

Define the services. The first steps is to define what the company or person does. If there is a mission statement that can be a great place to start. Write down all the activities that you can think of. Include minor things as well as the core services. They might factor into the ideas you create. Some minor details may hold a wonderful image later on.

Create and collect overall image ideas. Take your list of all the activities and brainstorm these lists and make a list of all the related areas and possible images and ideas that you can come up with. You probably will come up with a few great ideas while you doing this. Keep track of the silly ideas that come into your head. These often spark other creative ideas that you will use later.

Condense your ideas into one sentence that says it all. Here's where you start to make things coalesce into one great logo. You have your activities and images. Now it's time to get serious. Take all the activities and create one sentence that best defines the company, product or idea. This sentence should sum up what the company or product does. Now continue this and try and condense that sentence into 3 ideas, and main ideas or concepts.

Mix and match your image ideas. You have your concepts. Now have some more fun with all the ideas and images from your lists. Which ones match? Which ones would look good small or silhouetted. Are their initials that come to mind that make good acronyms? Have fun and be creative here. Maybe your best idea will come to you as you are driving home later. There's a lot of other factors that play into logo design like how they will reproduce when enlarged or reduced, and even the psychology of the color that you pick. But if you have done these steps you are on your way to creating a logo that could really work well.

Create the artwork. Engage the best artists you can afford to develop concept sketches. Think about all the ways and places you are going to use the logo. Your signage, the number of colors, the size of everything and how much things will cost may change the way you decide to go. Use professional tools and talk to your printer now, before your make your final art. Never use a cheap software program like Microsoft Publisher or a greeting card creation program if you do it yourself and expect it to work to a high resolution printer. Ask around and see what really works. Of course we're here if you need help, just drop us a line.

Do a trademark search. Make sure you don't infringe on anyone else's logo or tagline! It is possible that the idea you develop might closely resemble an already established logo somewhere else out there in the big world. It would be wise to have a trademark search conducted and those are usually best done through a law firm that specializes in trademarks and copyrights.
